Wednesday NBA Predictions

Indiana vs. Utah

The Indiana Pacers have a very explosive offense, and it all starts with the man at the point, Tyrese Haliburton. We've also seen very efficient shooting from wings Buddy Hield, Aaron Nesmith, and Bruce Brown. The Utah Jazz are struggling so far this year, especially on defense. At this stage, they are more of a collection of players acquired from trades than a cohesive team. Their rotation is a mess at the moment, and they do not have a legitimate point guard. They've lost two straight on this road trip and I think the Pacers will hand them another fat L tonight.

Prediction: Pacers -6.5 (-110)

Philadelphia vs. Boston

This is the best matchup of the night. These two bitter rivals each come in with a 5-1 record, but the players on each side will look different from last year. Boston brought in Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, while the 76ers added Kelly Oubre, dumped James Harden, and added a bunch of bench forwards. I think Jayson Tatum is set to have a big game. He's scored 30 or more in 5 of Boston's 6 games to start the season, and Philly does not have great defensive options to challenge him.

Prediction: Jayson Tatum Over 29.5 Points (-110)

Milwaukee vs. Detroit

Taking the over on opposing point guards vs. the Milwaukee Bucks has been a cash cow this season, but I think this is the time to go the other way. I believe Cade Cunningham will not torch the Bucks tonight because he is a pass-first guy, he has struggled from beyond the arc, the Bucks' interior defense (led by Giannis and Brook Lopez) is stout, and there's a chance this is a blowout and Cade is sitting on the bench for most of the final quarter. Moreover, Cunningham has only scored more than 25 points in 3 of 8 games this season, and he's done it just once on the road.

Prediction: Cade Cunningham Under 25.5 Points (-125)

Denver vs. Golden State

I like the Warriors in this game because of the questions about Denver's depth and the huge injury absence of Jamal Murray. In addition, Draymond Green is one of the best defenders you could hope to cover Nikola Jokic. On the Warriors' side, Stephen Curry is off to a great start this season, averaging about 30, 5, and 5. I believe the Warriors' depth will be a significant advantage in this matchup, with contributors Chris Paul, Dario Saric, and Jonathan Kuminga leading the way. Denver's bench does not pack the same punch. Expect the Warriors to steal a big win in Denver, or at the very least, make it close.

Prediction: Warriors +3.5 (-115)

Memphis vs. Miami

In the absence of Ja Morant, the Grizzlies are running the bulk of their offense through Desmond Bane. He has scored over 30 points in 3 of his last 4 games, the lone exception being a blowout loss in Utah where he only logged 27 minutes on the floor. Expect Memphis to give Miami a challenge tonight, with Bane leading the way.

Prediction: Desmond Bane Over 25.5 Points (-120)
