After a pretty quiet day of football action yesterday (that saw my Tottenham/Chelsea prediction get shattered in humiliating fashion), we have a packed fixture for the remainder of the week. Particularly today and tomorrow, there are some awesome international matchups. Let's look at some of the action today.
Dortmund vs. Newcastle
Both of these clubs have played excellent defense in Champions League and I believe this will be another tight, defensive struggle. I foresee Newcastle earning a tough 1-1 draw. Dortmund will not concede more than 1 goal at home.
Prediction: Newcastle to Score Under 1.5 Goals (-150)
Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Barcelona
Barcelona is a heavy favorite, and for good reason. After a couple of tough La Liga matches against Real Madrid (narrow loss) and Real Sociedad (narrow victory), I expect Barcelona to demonstrate their might today.
Prediction: Barcelona to Win by 2 or More Goals (-135)
Atletico Madrid vs. Celtic
Scottish side Celtic earned an impressive draw in the first meeting between these two clubs, and I believe they have enough savvy to do it again today. I think they will play very aggressively, desperate to get a decision to advance to the next stage. Atletico have shown some vulnerabilities on the back end. I think at worst Celtic will lose by a goal, and that would still be a win for our prediction.
Prediction: Celtic To Lose By 1, Tie, or Win (-145)
Manchester City vs. Young Boys
With Erling Haaland's status for this match in question, I expect others will step up for the unstoppable machine, Man City, today. Jeremy Doku is coming off 4 assists and a goal on Saturday. His confidence is certainly soaring right now. I think he will find the net again in a City victory.
Prediction: Jeremy Doku to Score Anytime (+105)
Milan vs. Paris Saint-Germain
Despite the talent they have up front (Giroud, Pulisic, and Leao), Milan have really struggled to score recently. If they have a chance in this one, it is their defense that will have to carry the load. On the PSG side, we can always expect Mbappe to step up on big stages like this. I'm confident he will at minimum get in an accurate shot.
Prediction: Under 3.5 Total Goals and Kylian Mbappe to have 1+ Shots on Target (-130)
