Line: OSU -6
Total: 52
Pick: Ohio State -6
Last night, we witnessed one of the best games of the entire College Football Playoff era as Notre Dame stormed back in the final quarter to beat Penn State 27-24. I have a sneaking suspicion that tonight we are going to see a one-sided blowout in favor of the Ohio State Buckeyes. The logic here is prettt simple. The Buckeyes’ offense is clicking at the right time. QB Will Howard has a terrific cast of weapons around him, headlined by WRs Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka, RBs Quinshon Judkins and TreyVeon Henderson, and TE Gee Scott Jr. I have a lot of respect for the Texas defense and credit them for most of the Longhorns’ success this season, but I don’t think anyone can hold Ohio State under 4 to 5 scores right now. On the flip side, I am very unimpressed by the Texas offense. They were totally unable to establish any type of run game in two of their last three games, and they are really lacking the type of consistent receiving threats that Ohio State has. Furthermore, the Buckeyes defense is super experienced and super talent. I think the defensive line, in particular, is going to give Texas problems in pass protection. Expect Ohio State to win by double digits, and set up an interesting championship game where Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman would be going against his Alma Mater.
