Dynasty Fantasy Football: 2024 Rookie Rankings (1QB)

General takeaways:
Ranking Michael Penix, Jr. is near-impossible. We don't know how long he'll need to wait to get the starting role in Atlanta. It could take multiple years, and that is zero fun for a fantasy football manager. For now, I'm slotting him as a Late 2nd in standard leagues but I personally am not going to have the patience (or trust in Atlanta's front office) to draft him.
The running back class is a big step down from last year's, and the team destinations do not allow for great opportunities early on. I think this will lead to Brooks and Benson getting overdrafted in fantasy. I think the sharp play this year is to make some minor trades to build RB depth if you're lacking. If you're stocked at the position with several veterans, see what you can get on the trade market. My favorite late round RB, though, is probably going to be Will Shipley in Philly. I like that he has the skillset to play a complementary role to Saquon Barkley, and also would be in position to take on a larger role if Barkley goes down at some point in the season.
Ranking receivers comes down to team fit, target share, and quality QB play. Puka Nacua stood out to me last year because the Rams did not have great competition for targets outside of Cooper Kupp. Through the same lens, I am going to be high on players like Ladd McConkey, Roman Wilson, Troy Franklin, and Malik Washington.
The tight end group is even more shallow than running back. If you see another manager in your league is in need of a starting TE and does not have the capital to acquire Bowers, you should get into some trade talks and see if you can capitalize on the market. Also, if the manager with Michael Mayer is panicking and possibly selling low, you should absolutely take a flier on him. He and Bowers will not be playing the same position.
I may seem like a Jayden Daniels hater here. I rank the QBs in large part based on the environments they're going to be playing in, and I have considerable doubts about Washington's offensive line and their offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. JJ McCarthy, meanwhile, gets to play with Justin Jefferson, TJ Hockenson, Aaron Jones, and Jordan Addison behind a more trustworthy offensive line. As far as late round QB fliers, I really like Jordan Travis to Seattle.
